John Elliffe would like to share his experience of being a Volunteer at London 2012 Olympics. John would like to “thank Waltham Forest Community Centre for being given the opportunity to go along for an interview to become a volunteer at the London 2012 Olympics.”
My interview covered what to do during the Paralympics Games and Olympics. The interview was for 2 hours where I had to express what events I liked, what skills I could offer, what volunteering roles I had done in the past and what volunteering roles I wanted to do at the Olympics.
As I was successful at the interview, I was offered training which covered scanning tickets, how to use the radio in an emergency, how to stop people going in wrong areas and how to deal with people with fake tickets. I enjoyed the training and it has given me more confidence to volunteer at the Olympics as I enjoy helping out in the community especially with people who are less fortunate than me.
This was one of my aims this year which I am achieving at the moment.
